Taman Piknik was a garbage dump.
Located on Jalan Manunggal II, Cipinang Melayu, East Jakarta, there is a park which is one of the new parks opened by the Jakarta administration, named Taman Piknik. The park is only about 1 km from Jalan Raya Kalimalang.
You will find beautiful atmosphere when entering the garden decorated with various kinds of plants. There are stairs that will leading you to the main park which is quite unique, because under the stairs you will also find retention and bioswale ponds (pollutant filter) are built as a place to control water. In the main park area, you will find several newly planted Tabebuya trees.
It is not difficult to find a place to rest because Taman Piknik is also equipped with park benchs made of concrete. Generally, visitors who come to this park bring their families. There is a playground, but not many rides are provided.
Taman Piknik is quite cozy to visit and the scenery is beautiful too. The park in Kalimalang is part of TMB (Taman Maju Bersama) program with the main function as ecological and also adding aesthetic of the city, as well as a space for people to get interaction, and of course it is free. Before being revitalized into a Taman Piknik, this area was an empty land that is usually used by local residents as a garbage dump.
