Indonesia is excited to host the Pope, the leader of the World Catholic Church, in Jakarta. The main event of his visit will be a Grand Eucharistic Mass at GBK, Senayan, Jakarta.

People from various circles welcomed Pope Francis' arrival in Indonesia on September 3, 2024. His simple and humble character makes him admirable to everyone. It was noticeable that the Pope stayed at the Apostolic Nunciature, also known as the Vatican Embassy to Indonesia, instead of a luxury hotel. He was also seen riding in a Kijang Innova Zenix vehicle. He chose to sit next to the driver, eschewing a luxury and bulletproof vehicle, in contrast to the two previous popes who visited Indonesia in 1970 and 1989. His simplicity and humility serve as an example to all.

Pope Francis will hold a series of events during his visit to Indonesia. These include meetings with President Jokowi, state officials, civil society, the diplomatic corps, young people from Scholas Occurantes, various religious figures, and the Society of Jesus. He will also visit the Cathedral Church and the Istiqlal Mosque. The peak of the Pope's visit will be on September 5, 2024, when he will hold a Grand Mass at Gelora Bung Karno in Senayan, Jakarta. This event is expected to be attended by 80,000 Roman Catholics.
