MRT Jakarta officially operated and still free.
Moda Raya Terpadu (MRT) Jakarta officially operated Sunday, March 24, 2019, after being officially inaugurated by the President Joko Widodo. MRT Jakarta is part of the integration between transportation modes in Jakarta through the Jak Lingko program. In the inauguration which took place at the Bundaran HI MRT Station, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also attended to accompany President Joko Widodo. The inauguration also marked the start of the phase two MRT Jakarta construction with route Bundaran HI to Kota Tua.
“We also encourage Moda Raya Terpadu to be part of the Jak Lingko, a Jakarta transportation integration system, from small vehicles to big vehicles, from first mile to last mile. At present, the MRT Jakarta has been integrated with Transjakarta. In the future, we will continue to integrate with other transportation modes such as LRT and Commuter Line, within the Jak Lingko framework. And we will continue to guard the phase two MRT Jakarta construction and subsequent phases," Anies said.
Anies also explained that Ratangga (MRT train name) will operate for 19 hours, with a waiting time delay around five minutes during rush hour, and 10 minutes during normal hours. The MRT Jakarta will operate with eight sets starting at 05.30 to 22.30 WIB during March and April. Afterwards, the train will be added to 16, and the operating hours starts from 05.00 to 24.00 WIB. For the operations, there are 71 machinists and 350 operating and maintenance personnel.
Now MRT Jakarta is implementing Fase Operasi Tidak Berbayar from March 25 to March 31, 2019, where people can use MRT Jakarta for free by registering at www.ayocobamrtj.com. Then show your registration confirmation to MRT Jakarta staff at each station entrance.
To optimize its services, MRT Jakarta is also integrated with other public transportation modes. The first integrated MRT station is Bundaran HI MRT Station with Bundaran HI Transjakarta Bus Stop. Since 2014, the bus stop was dismantled due to the MRT construction. Then on Sunday, March 24, Bundaran HI Bus Stop began to be opened again and was equipped with several new facilities with unique design.
