On Friday (3/7), the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, inaugurated the Amir Hamzah Mosque in Taman Ismail Marzuki area, Menteng, Central Jakarta. The inauguration of the mosque marked the exact year of Taman Ismail Marzuki's revitalization progress. The inauguration was also attended by the Chairperson of Indonesian Mosque Council, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla and the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria.
 
"Alhamdulillah. On this glorious day, on Friday, we began to use the building that Jakpro had completed in the past year. We are all grateful that everything targeted, mandated to be entrusted can be carried out well. And one part of the process revitalizing the Jakarta arts center, Taman Ismail Marzuki, is the rebuilding of Amir Hamzah Mosque," Anies says in his remarks.
 
The Amir Hamzah Mosque is expected to be part of a healthy ecosystem to display a variety of artss, with the growth and development of ideas from artists. Aside from being a place of prayer, the Amir Hamzah Mosque can also be used as a place to exchange ideas from artists, both domestic and international artists.

The Chairperson of Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, also stated that Amir Hamzah Mosque can show the spirit of the community movement that prospered the mosque and vice versa, the mosque which prospered the surrounding community. JK also hopes that  artists can use this mosque to produce the best works in the future.
 
"The mosque, especially in this TIM area, is the area of ​​our artists whose artists are the aim of refining their hearts and expressing things very well. To artists we certainly hope to use, prosper the mosque in different ways," explained JK.
 
Meanwhile, Chairman of Mosque Prosperity Board, Amir Hamzah Eko Wahyu Wibowo expressed his gratitude for the inauguration of Amir Hamzah Mosque which has been waiting for seven years, since 2013. Eko expressed his hope that the presence of the new Amir Hamzah mosque could be filled with various activities and give birth to new artists. .
 
"Amir Hamzah Mosque is not merely a place for worship. But in history as well as a place for Muslim scientists to exchange ideas, and Muslim artists have also worked here, etc. Hopefully with this new mosque, its work will be more in the field of amaliyah, ubudiyah, or later worship," Eko says.
