Happy Father’s Day!

There is something different on Google’s homepage today. There is a Google doodle with a dominant green color showing an animation of father and child relationship. From animal’s to human’s. Maybe only few of you who have known about National Father’s Day that celebrated every November 12. Although it is not as popular as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is also celebrated every year to appreciate a figure of a father as a backbone, protector, and a support of a home.

Not only in Indonesia, Father’s Day is also celebrated in other countries. Such as America, Japan, and more than 75 countries around the world celebrate Father’s Day every Monday at the third week of June since the 12th century. Father’s Day can also be celebrated with giving a gift to fathers or hold a family event.

Uniquely, the Father’s Day initiators in Indonesia are mothers, not fathers. In 2006, Father’s Day was declared for the first time by Perkumpulan Putra Ibu Pertiwi (PPIP) in Solo, Central Java. But, to appreciate the love and merit of a father, you don’t have to wait for a Father’s Day. Everyday and everytime we should express our love and salute to our fathers. Have you salute your father with “Happy Father’s Day”?
