Do you already have a plan where you will go on holiday? Will overseas be your destination? And is this your first time going on holiday abroad? If all the answers are yes, then there are a few things you should pay attention to.

It's best not to just think about accommodation, transportation, and logistics issues. You also have to anticipate security from the start, so you can enjoy your holiday comfortably without feeling anxious. Alinear Indonesia has summarized the things you have to prepare or do to stay safe even when you are on holiday in someone else's country.

1. Give a copy of the itinerary to the family
It's a good idea to send an e-mail or give a copy of your holiday itinerary to family or other close relatives before leaving. Apart from letting family members know what you might be doing at a tourist destination, your safety is also more guaranteed because the people closest to you can act quickly if something untoward happens to you.

2. Separate Money
Don't keep cash and debit or credit cards in the same place. Keep some of your money in your wallet and put the other part in a place you feel safest, such as an inside jacket pocket or a hidden pocket in a bag. Your valuable cards can also be stored in different places, thereby minimizing losses if you lose your wallet or forget to bring it.

3. Scan your passport and other important documents
Losing important documents will certainly ruin your vacation. However, if you anticipate this by making copies of these documents before leaving for vacation, you can speed up the document replacement process. It's a good idea to save the soft copy of the document online, so it's safer and you're not afraid of losing it or forgetting where you saved it.

4. Create Travel Insurance
No one knows when we will get sick. It could happen when we are on holiday. Unfortunately, not all personal insurance can cover medical costs abroad. For this reason, if you are planning a holiday abroad for a long time, it would be a good idea for you to register for travel insurance with a trusted insurance company as a precaution.

5. Learn the Culture and Applicable Rules
Every country has its own culture and rules. Many things may be commonplace in Indonesia, but not in other countries. For example, in Indonesia, there may not be a problem if you suddenly invite a stranger's baby to play a little, but this is not the case in the United States or European countries which are known to be more private. In Indonesia, it doesn't matter if you go out wearing revealing clothes, this is different in Middle Eastern countries. For this reason, first study the culture and norms that apply in the destination country, so that later you don't get into trouble just because you don't know about them.

6. Don't take shortcuts
Even though you are starting to feel comfortable in the country where you are on holiday, don't try to find shortcuts to cut down on time. Because some countries, such as countries in Latin America, are known to have dangerous shortcuts. For safety reasons, it is better to stay on paths that are generally known to many people and are busy with people.

7. Save Emergency Phone Numbers
Don't forget to find out important numbers that you can call if an emergency occurs, such as the telephone number for the nearest embassy or police station. Happy holiday!
