Our Netflix watchlist is here to help you find your next binge-worthy series, and we have sifted through the extensive catalog to provide these recommendations. If you have ever wondered, “What should I watch on Netflix?” you have come to the right place.

1. Stranger Things
If you haven't watched the cult phenomenon that is Stranger Things, stop what you’re doing and start right now. It would be a disservice to yourself and the Netflix-loving community not to experience this sci-fi sensation.

The plot revolves around a group of kids in the '80s, who use walkie-talkies to communicate, play Dungeons and Dragons, and unexpectedly uncover large-scale government supernatural conspiracies. It features a host of iconic characters and a plot rich with genuine intrigue and emotional depth. The show masterfully balances humor and horror, especially considering there are only 8 episodes in season 1 and 9 episodes in season 2.

2. 13 Reasons Why

One day, teenager Clay Jensen returns home from school to discover a mysterious box on his porch. Inside, he finds seven double-sided cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and unrequited love, who tragically ended her life two weeks earlier.

On the tapes, Hannah shares an emotional audio diary, outlining the thirteen reasons for her decision to take her life. Her instructions are clear: each person who receives the package is one of the reasons for her suicide. After listening to the tapes, individuals must pass the package to the next person. If anyone breaks the chain, a separate set of tapes will be made public. Each tape addresses a specific person at her school, detailing their involvement in her tragic end.

3. Chef’s Table
Chef's Table is an American documentary web series available on Netflix. Each episode spotlights a single renowned chef. Creator David Gelb describes it as a follow-up to his critically acclaimed documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

4. Orange Is the New Black

Orange Is the New Black is perfectly suited for the Netflix delivery model, mainly because waiting a week for a new episode would have been agonizing. The structure feels cinematic, and compared to your average show, the all-at-once release format allowed creators to craft a narrative that’s less episodic and more fluid.

Taylor Schilling stars as Piper Chapman, a woman leading a content modern life when her past unexpectedly catches up with her. A decade ago, she briefly acted as a drug mule for her lover Alex Vause (played by the excellent Laura Prepon), and when Vause sought to reduce her sentence, she implicated Piper.

The story draws inspiration from the real-life experiences of Piper Kerman, whose book, also titled Orange Is the New Black, served as the basis, but the screen version far surpasses the original. Schilling is the driving force of the plot, and her unique blend of calmness mixed with growing anger and desperation captures the essence of life inside a women’s prison.

In the first few episodes, prison is presented as a quirky novelty she must endure for 15 months. One of director Jenji Kohan's wisest choices (and there are many) was to raise the stakes so that what starts as an off-center adventure quickly takes on the serious dimensions that prison life entails.

As remarkable as Schilling and Prepon are together, the supporting cast is incredibly strong, to the point that it's hard to believe. There are numerous characters who shine with their limited screen time, but suffice it to say, there’s enough comedy, pathos, and tragedy here for a dozen shows. The fact that they are so successfully woven into one narrative makes OITNB a defining triumph for Netflix.
